February Barware - Roly Poly Glasses

Ahhhhhh, the "Roly Poly!!" These fab glasses are a quintessential Mid-Century Design ...seen in iconic mid-20th historical imagery and on to the the set of Mad Men, known for its detailed tributes to the culture & authenticity of the mid-century era. In fact, the Roly Poly was a Don Draper go-to!! 

Roly's are a favorite among collectors largely in part because of their comfort. Fitting easily in your hand, not heavy, they hold just the right amount for a 2 oz cocktail or a tasting dram of your favorite scotch or bourbon.

This month's highlight are a perfect set of Mid-Century Roly Poly "fades" ...a set of 6, perfect for a small dinner party. Serve up a pre-dinner cocktail or an after dinner treat in these lovely tributes to the golden era of barware!!

What to do with your Roly Polys? I use my Rolys for one of two things ...a single pour of my favorite whiskey / scotch, and also a simple 2 oz cocktail. I chose a Godfather for these ...because that's truly the easiest quick luxurious cocktail to make ...perfect for whiskey lovers and classic cocktail enthusiasts alike. Sip this neat, or pour over a small ice ball ...either way, perfect in this fab set!! I tend to like my Godfather on the sweeter side, so I use equal parts of Whiskey & Amaretto. While this cocktail is traditionally made with Scotch, I always tend to drink Scotch neat, and choose a French Whiskey (that actually finishes a little like a Scotch) for this recipe. 

1 oz Bastille French Whiskey 

1 oz of Amaretto

*chill softly in a mixing pitcher, strain and serve neat, (or use a small ice ball if you 'must' have ice! But trust me, its better chilled and served neat)!
